Disable touchscreen when connected to host using emulation

$

Description:

In some instances it is necessary to disable the touchscreen during emulation to avoid the focus from being taken off of the input fields if the touchscreen is accidentally touched. The setting to disable the touchscreen is called: Pen/mouse cursor movement.

Resolution:

This is in the emulation parameters of the telnet client under:

  • Connect the device to the computer
  • Open the telnet configuration utility

Main.png

  • Open Emulation Parameters

EmulationParameters_button.png

  • Navigate to Emulation>Display>Pen/Mouse Cursor Movement.
    • This setting by default is enabled. Disabling this setting will make the touchscreen inactive when connected to the host.

  • After you change this setting, click save.

EmulationParameters_save.png

  • Send the settings down to the device by clicking the 'Config' button OR 'Application and Config' button. (Application and Config will re-install the application while the Config Only option)

Configuring Android Devices Using Wavelink’s Online Configurator Tool

$

Environment:

Configuring Android Devices with the TE Client,  when the device does not have an Avalanche license or is managed by another service.

Problem/Issue/Question:

You can configure your TE Client settings through the Wavelink Configurator and download the configurations as a file for mass distribution. Using this tool, you can create the configuration in the Configurator Console, export it, and then use your mobile device management service to send the configuration file directly to the device.

Resolution/Answer:

Go to the following link: (Best results have been with Google Chrome)

https://configurator.wavelink.com/AvalancheWeb/login.jsf

1. Select Register and then complete the required steps to establish your own account.Once created, go ahead and log in.

2. You will see a page similar to the following:

3. Select the “+” symbol under Available Payloads. This will allow you to create a new Payload.

4. Select iOS and Android and then select which Payload you want to create. Host Profiles are separate from Emulation Parameter Payloads. You will need to create at least one of each, as these will be bundled to create a package that gets sent down to the device.

5.Create your Host Profile

6. When finished, select Save at the bottom of the window.

Do the same for the Emulation Parameters. Select TE Client Settings and make your changes. Be sure to give this Payload a name as well. Since you will probably have multiple Payloads for different versions of the clients as well as different devices, I’d recommend including the device Model and version in the Payload name. (Ex: MC40 v1.3.21 Emul Parms)

Once the payloads have been created for both the Host Profile and Emulation Parameters, you will then want to create a Profile that you will then pull in the Payloads that you want included in that Profile.

7. To create a Profile, select the following:

8. New Profile window will appear.

9. Select Application Configuration

10. Provide a name for the Profile and then select the TE Client Settings (Emulation Parameters) and TE Host Profile Configurations that you want to add to the Profile. Select Save when finished.

11. Place a check in the box to the left of the new Profile.

12. The Selected Profiles can be set up with specific Selection Criteria.

13. If you don’t want to apply any specific criteria, then just select Apply.

You will now see the new Profile in the Applied Profiles section:

14. Select “Needs Deployment” to deploy the Profile.

You can Deploy it immediately, or delay the Deployment:

15. Select Finish when you are done.

To see if your Profile had been Deployed, you can right click in the screen and select Reload.

Once the package has been Deployed, you will see the new status:

Soon after, you will get a message on the screen indicating the following:

16. Next, you will want to print out or scan the barcode (from the display if you have an Imager).

17. Select the Default folder, and then select the eye Icon. This is the “View” icon.

18. Select the “Print QR Code” to display the barcode on the screen:

19. Make sure your device can access the Internet, and start up the Wavelink Client.

Select the option to bring up the menu selection.

     Select the option for More.

     Select Server Configuration

     Select Scan Server Address

If you are not connected to the Internet or cannot access the Wavelink Server, you will get a message that says “Pull Configuration Failed”.

Otherwise, your configuration will be pulled and you will be able to select from the options you configured.

Terminal Emulation

Wavelink Terminal Emulation (TE) is the industry leading emulation client and is in use on more than 4 million mobile devices worldwide, including many of the largest retailers in the world. Wavelink TE is the most comprehensive solution for accessing, managing and maintaining connections to applications resident on host systems using popular emulation types that include 5250, 3270, VT and HP emulation. Where other terminal emulators only support some of today’s input types, only Wavelink TE supports virtually all data types. Wavelink TE’s tight integration with mobile computers provides the ability to accept data from the keyboard, barcode scanner, voice inputs, RFID reader, and magnetic stripe reader or touch screen.

Wavelink Terminal Emulation software features the broadest range of supported devices across all major AIDC mobile device vendors and OS platforms. As an agnostic solution, Wavelink TE family of clients supports Windows based, Android, iOS and DOS/legacy devices, and preserves existing infrastructure investment, while providing an easy migration path to newer devices and technologies.

Wavelink TE helps your system and people work smarter by providing intelligent data collection and communications functions. Prevent errors and inefficiencies caused by incorrect data entry or scans, take advantage of easy on-screen navigation, and maximize the uptime of your workforce by avoiding dropped connections, directed messages and error notices.

Wavelink Emulation License Server (Optional):

The Wavelink Emulation License server makes it easy to distribute and keep track of licenses across a large number of hand held devices by centralizing this function in an easy-to-use application. To download select "Emulation License Server" from the Wavelink Product Downloads menu.

Wavelink ConnectPro Server (Optional):

The ConnectPro Server allows you to avoid dropped connections and automatically reconnect by acting as an intermediary connection server between the client device and the host application server. To download select "Emulation ConnectPro Server" from the Wavelink Product Downloads menu.

Telnet not responding after "Networ Out-of-range"

Hi all,

we have recently faced issue with our TelnetCE that we are using on Datalogic barcode scanners. Issue is as follow:

when we are using WEB emulation in TelnetCE and we are walking inside our manufacturing area we are receiving "Network Out-of-range" popup when we are switching from one access point to another. This message is displayed for 1-2 seconds and in most cases when it is gone we can continue our work in the system. Unfortunately sometimes when "Network Out-of-range" message is gone, scanner is becoming frozen - we are trying to click anything in the system but we don't get any response and when we are trying to refresh the page in TelnetCE we are receiving "web page unavailable". Then if we will try to disconnect session and reconnect again we are once again receiving "web page unavailable" (but we have good connection as signal indicator is showing full, green signal strength). The only way to get scanner working is to reboot it.

We have already executed several activities to solve the issue but nothing is helping:

- we have updated firmware on the scanners to latest version

- we have executed wifi audit to double check that this is not a network issue

- we have changed and tested several settings in WiFi card configuration (in Summit Configuration Utility) to limit the number of situation when scanner is moving between access points.

- we have also disabled "Network support" option in Telnet configuration (section "Emulation"->"Network") but this change is only not displaying popup - instead of it we have progress bar that is loading and then after several seconds we have "frozen scanner"

So after all those actions we know that TelnetCE is sometimes hanging up when it is loosing network connection. As we have wireless devices we will never get rid of situation when devices are moving between access points or when they are travelling in areas where there is no WiFi signal, so now we would like to configure Telnet to work stable in those situations.

Does anyone faced same or similar issues? Or does anyone have any ideas what more we can change to get rid of "frozen scanners"?

Thanks for any reply!

Velocity Speakeasy - numbers recognition incorrect (RUS)

Dear colleagues,

We're using a two-digit grammar file to test voice recognition (attached in the bottom).

At some point the system started having issues recognizing two-digit numbers, like 22, 23, 24, etc. It's keing 202, 203, 204 instead.

What's strange is that numbers like 11,12,13,21,31,41 etc. are recognized correctly.

We're using the latest versions of the software with the Russian Katya text-to-speech language pack. Wasn't able to install speech-to text file.

Can someone help?

Ignoring escape characters in Telnet

$

Is there a way that we can tell a scangun not to read the escape characters in a barcode through Wavelink Telnet?

I’ve found the option in Datawedge [Datawedge is interpreting that \1 as an escape character.  Go into "Basic configuration/Keystroke output" and uncheck "Allow Escape chars"].   But can’t seem to find the matching setting in Telnet.  Is this possible?

Using the Zebra MC92N0 for this.

Many thanks

Arrow keys acting like the tab key

$

On a screen with entry fields in a vertical list, when I use the up and down arrow keys they act like the tab key. The down arrow will move to the end of the field on the first press, the start of the next field with the second press, the end of that field with the third press, etc. Up arrow does the same thing. Left and right arrows work as expected. What setting am I missing that would change this behavior? This is on a new device, a Honeywell Thor VM3 with Windows 7 Pro. Telnet version 7.3.251 running 5250 emulation connecting to an IBM iSeries. Thanks!

Telnet emulator 7.3 - session block

$

Hello,

Our warehouse logistics are handled through an internal ERP application ensuring a proper flow of the reception and distribution of auto parts.

For this purpose we use around 110 mobile terminals with barcode scanners (RF Guns) of which 50 are deployed in the central warehouse.

The models used are:

Motorola MC2100

Datalogic Falcon X3

Datalogic Skorpio

In the central warehouse we are currently using 50 Motorola MC2100 scanners with Windows CE 6.0 operating system. As an emulator we are using Wavelink Corporation’s Telnet version 7.3.63 for Motorola MC2100 terminals.

Lately, the following problem began to manifest itself:

On a daily basis every Motorola MC2100 device suffers one or more unexplainable telnet session blocks.

When this happens, the terminal cannot interact with the application any more, the keyboard stops working and after a few minutes the display shows the "disconnected session" message. The terminal’s log doesn’t record any loss of connection to the access point.

The Access Points are all newly acquired from Motorola in order to ensure maximum compatibility between them and the mobile terminals.

Our question is:

To what extent the Telnet emulator may influence these session blocks, taking into account the following:

1. Telnet version

2. Certain parameters of the telnet configuration

3. “Avalanche Enable” configuration – we are using the Avalanche platform version 5.3.0.572 to manage our terminals

4. Having a large number of sessions (high load) on an Access Point.

Can you please help us with any idea in tackling this problem? Is there a log monitoring tool that can help us to identify the cause of these problems?

The situation is very critical and this seriously influences the process of delivery and reception of goods.

Thank you,

Florian Baloi

Change license platform

Hello,

I have a new license for TelnetCE 7.3 IBMHOST.

I'm having issues authorizing our new systems. It would accept the license when I manually input it but a window will appear asking for a license.

I think what's happening is that this license is for IBMHOST platform and we are using VT220 platform.

Thank you,

License "Disappeared" when we changed Wireless Access Points. When you put new license in it says "Your authorization expired"

We changed wireless access points in our facility yesterday and for some reason, some but not all of our Motorola / Symbol MC55 that use TelnetCE 7.3 lost their licenses.  They had been working just find for the previous 4 years,  When I tried to put in the license information, the expiration date is "1010500" on the license, into the TelnetCE client it returns the error: Your authorization expired on 10/10/25   not sure what is causing this, they were all purchased about the same time and all the licenses we purchased one by one from 2012 - 2014.  Hoping someone has an idea.

Printing to an Avery Dennison Pathfinder 6507 or to a file

$

Hello,

we are evaluating Avery Dennison Pathfinder 6057 printer/handelds with Wavelink TelnetCE and we're unable to print.

TelnetCE seems to work correctly with the printer as from "About > Printer" we can get printer status andissue calibration and feed commands.

However files that are sent thru VT220 print sequences don't get printed - an inverted-video "PRINTING" square appears but nothing goes out to the printer.

The printer is configured as PATHFINDER on COM1: - we also tried DUMMY but with no success. The files we're trying to print are in LNT language and get correctly printed when put in the Temp\Print directory on the device; however from the APIlogCurr.txt file it seems they're always converted to MPCL format no matter which model of printer is specified.

Is there a way to have Wavelink TE just write print data to a folder, or call a command to work on print data, or call an OS escape via escape codes?
